Governments Should Regulate Deepfakes, Warns by Nasirudeen at ICCAIT 2025
“No Deepfake Regulation, No Truth.”

A leading voice in Africa’s tech ecosystem, Mr. Nasirudeen, has urged governments worldwide to urgently regulate deepfakes before they destabilise global trust systems. He emphasised that every AI-generated video should carry a clear “AI-Created” authenticity stamp to reduce public tension—especially as abusive and misleading videos continue to go viral.

Speaking at the 3rd International Conference on Computing and Advances in Information Technology (ICCAIT 2025) at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, he stated:

“Governments must act now on deepfake regulation, or we risk a future where truth becomes impossible to verify.”

The conference, hosted by ABU’s Department of Computer Science, brought together innovators, researchers, and partners—including 3logy Limited, recognised for empowering young Africans to speak “the language of the future” in an increasingly digital world.

During his address, Nasirudeen delivered another firm warning:

“AI won’t steal your job… unless you keep ignoring it. Then it has no choice.”

He concluded with his defining message on misinformation:

“No deepfake regulation, no truth.”
